Week of May 27th

No School Monday, May 27
Science Test over the Moon Wednesday, May 29:
Last Day of School Wednesday, June 5

Report cards will be given on last day of school.  If your child is not at school on that day we will not be mailing report cards.  You will have to come to school and pick it up.

Third Grade Spirit Days: As part of the year –end festivities, the third grade team has some fun activities planned for the students.

Wednesday, May 29: How well did you learn those spelling words?  Each class will host a Spelling Bee using all the words you learned this year.

Thursday, May 30: Start the day with Jeopardy.  Test your skill against classmates over material learned throughout the year.

Friday, May 31: What better way to finish the week then with a celebration of reading.  Bring your favorite books from home, a towel, an extra snack, a favorite stuffed animal and read, read, read!

Monday, June 3: Let’s end the year at the movies!  The Third Graders will be watching the movie Charlotte's Web to compare and contrast the novel to the movie.  Spread out your towel, bring a special snack and drink (no pop), and enjoy the movie!

Tuesday, June 4: The students will enjoy a morning of fun activities out in the sun!  The students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes.  Don’t forget to apply sunscreen in the morning before coming to school.Citizenship Celebration: The students filled the marble jar and earned a citizenship celebration.  They voted on the picnic that we had to cancel last week.  I am going to try to have the picnic on Wednesday, May 29.

Jump Rope for Heart: All students will be participating in a school wide jump rope event on Wednesday, May 15th. Pledges are collected online and in person before the event. The money raised goes to fund heart research and education.

From the Library: Remember to have your child log in his/her minutes for reading. They need to go to Reading Stars on the May Watts website. This month, the students are reading to try to earn a Joliet Slammers ticket for reading 360 minutes. The Kane County Cougars tickets will be distributed the first week of May.

May Watts School staff will be holding their annual Volunteer Appreciation Day for any parent or guardian who has worked at May Watts School as a volunteer helping us throughout the school year.
The theme this year is, "Volunteering is a Gift from the Heart!"

If you have volunteered at any time during the current school year, please feel free to stop by the school. We will be holding our event in the Multi-Purpose Room. Please sign in and put on a name tag and come down to the Multi-Purpose Room for a fun-filled event!

If you are planning on taking your child at the end of the tea, you will be required to inform the office of this when you sign in for the Tea and sign your child out prior to the end of the day.

PLEASE REMEMBER – THERE IS NO PARKING IN THE FRONT CIRCLE DRIVEWAY OF THE SCHOOL. This must remain free of cars at all times for emergency vehicles and buses only. Please park on Whispering Hills Drive or on surrounding streets and do not pull in the driveway.

We hope to see you on Monday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Book Exchange: If you are doing spring cleaning and cleaning out your closets, please save your used children's books for the 5th Annual Book Exchange to be held the last week in April. Drop off your books April 22 - April 24. Your child will be able to select his/her books April 25 - April 26.

Raging Waves Plunge into Fitness: Raging Waves Waterpark in Yorkville is offering a FREE day pass to any student who completes at least 25 hours of exercise between FEb. 18th and April 15th, document the exercise and turn the forms in to Ms. Andrews.
